Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, America’s flagship environmental organization, is pleased to announce that the early bird application period for group sails and charters for spring 2013 is now open. Educators, Scout leaders, camp instructors, youth groups and those interested in chartering a vessel for a private event or fundraiser are invited to download an application at www.Clearwater.org and apply for a sail in spring 2013.

Clearwater will begin its 44th sailing season on the Hudson River this spring and continues to provide excellent onboard programs that are a great way to enhance classroom curriculum or celebrate a special event onboard an historic tall ship.

An educational group sail provides an outstanding way to experience the Hudson River, with sails departing from several docks from Albany to New York City. Three-hour sails include a dockside orientation, a call for “all hands to the halyards” to help hoist the sails, interactive learning stations on water chemistry, physics, ecology, and history, music provided by the crew with sing-a-longs, and an opportunity to take the tiller.

A private charter is the perfect platform to host corporate team-building events, weddings, fundraisers, and gatherings of family and friends. Every sail provides an ecological adventure as well as a voyage of discovery, learning about the Hudson, and joining in songs about sailing and the environment. Of course, all sails include time to relax and enjoy the beauty of the River!

Early-bird applications to sail onboard the sloop Clearwater or the schooner Mystic Whaler in the spring of 2013 are being accepted September 27 through October 31.

To book a group sail, please contact Catherine Stankowski, Sail Program Manager, at 845 265-8080, x7107 or, SailCoord@Clearwater.org, or visit www.clearwater.org for more information and to download an application.

Clearwater’s award winning onboard education programs fulfill New York State learning standards, and complement classroom science and arts curricula.

Clearwater education programs meet NYS Learning Standards and may be eligible for funding through select BOCES.
