The public is welcome and invited to two free programs hosted by Clearwater this September and taking place at Esopus Meadows Preserve near Kingston, NY. These family-friendly programs will offer an opportunity to learn about river flora and fauna and take a hike to learn about the ancient geologic forces that shaped the environment we see today. These outdoor family events are appropriate for all ages and provide a fun and relaxed way to learn about the Hudson River. Sponsored by Hudson River Sloop Clearwater and Hudson Valley Ramble
“Sunset Seine and Sing” — Saturday, September 7, 5:00PM; Esopus Meadows Preserve, 257 River Road, Ulster Park, NY: A fishing program for all ages where participants will take to the river with waders and a net and see what they can catch. The evening features a concert by Clearwater’s own Power of Song. Participants are invited to bring a picnic dinner and relax by the river for an enjoyable and educational experience.
“Walk and Wade” — Saturday, September 28, 11:00AM; Esopus Meadows Preserve, 257 River Road, Ulster Park, NY: Participants will explore how water has shaped our environment over the last 20,000 years. and enjoy a moderate one-hour hike followed by seining in the Hudson River. The program includes native and invasive species investigation, and fish catch discussion. Participants will also learn how the river gets ready for winter, and the changing water quality of the river.
