The New York State Canal System has long served as a thoroughfare for commerce – additionally, the canal system also is a thoroughfare for aquatic invasive species to move into new waterways – including the Hudson River watershed. Join Aquatic Ecologist Stuart Findlay as he explores the ecological impacts and potential solutions to the movement of aquatic invasive species through the New York State Canal System with minimal effects on (without harming) commercial and recreational use.

Register to attend.

About the speaker:
Stuart Findlay has worked on the Hudson River for over 30 years, researching sensitive wetlands, shoreline restoration, and conducting environmental monitoring critical to helping to guide the river’s recovery. He aims to identify impending problems and devise suitable solutions in streams, wetlands, and the Hudson River, and is committed to carrying science from discovery to dissemination and is actively engaged with a wide array of management, outreach, and educational programs.

This webinar is part of Clearwater’s Winter Virtual Learning Series – a three-event series of thought-provoking educational virtual talks and presentations about issues directly affecting the Hudson River Valley and its communities in Feburary 2024. Each virtual session is free and has a $25 suggested donation for those who would like to support Clearwater’s educational programming.
