On Wednesday, June 8th from 11am-12pm, WE ACT for Environmental Justice and partners are hosting a webinar to celebrate the recent passage of an important environmental justice legislation in New York State. Called the Cumulative Impacts Legislation, this historic bill would prevent the siting of polluting facilities in Black, Brown, and low-income communities across NYS. While the bill is not yet signed into law by Governor Hochul, we are excited it has passed the legislature and has the potential to impact communities of low-income and of color across the State. Please join us to celebrate the legislation, and for a panel discussion on the importance of cumulative impacts legislation for environmental justice communities across the United States.

We will be joined by a panel of national leaders in the environmental justice movement to discuss the importance of the legislation:
  • Peggy Shepard, Executive Director and Co-Founder of WE ACT for Environmental Justice
  • Mychal Johnson, Co-founder of South Bronx Unite
  • Dr. Robert Bullard, Father of the environmental justice movement and Distinguished Professor of Urban Planning and Environmental Policy and Director of the Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice
  • Dr. Nicky Sheats, Director of the Center for the Urban Environment at the John S. Watson Institute for Urban Policy and Research at Kean University and founding member of the New Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance (NJEJA)
