Beacon, NY – Chef Terrance Brennan will be honored on Sunday, September 17, from 4pm-8pm at the 2nd Annual Chef’s for Clearwaterbenefit dinner at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), Hyde Park, NY. Hudson River Sloop Clearwater will present Brennan with a limited edition pen hand-crafted from the wood of the original sloop Clearwater. Brennan is host and creator of the event with co-host Dr. Tim Ryan, President of the CIA.

Clearwater Founder, Hal Cohen says, “It is Clearwater’s hope that Chef Brennan will carry this pen in his pocket close to his heart because he has certainly put his heart into this dinner to help Clearwater and all of us who live in the Hudson Valley.”

Recently, Chef Terrance Brennan was asked why he offered to create the Chef’s for Clearwater dinner:

“Everything about the environment, the soil, the air, the water is important to growing healthy livestock and vegetables.  I work very closely with local farmers and one of the first questions I’ll ask them is, tell me about your farming practices. How do you take care of your soil, what are your crop rotations? Part of that is not to use chemicals that bleed into our rivers and streams that affect our fisheries and pollute the water.  I support Clearwater because we’re all in this together. Clearwater’s overall message is about the environment, and as a chef – especially as a chef in the Hudson Valley – I care deeply about taking care of the environment.”

For the evening, Chef Brennan has called up six notable chefs from the Hudson Valley to join him: Sara Lukasiewicz, The Amsterdam, John McCarthy, The Crimson Sparrow, Waldy Malouf, The Bocuse Restaurant, The Culinary Institute of America, Michael Kaphan, Purdy’s Farmer & The Fish, Jay Lippin, Crabtree’s Kittle House, and Kristina DePalma, The Roundhouse by Terrance Brennan. Chef Brennan has crafted a menu that takes advantage of each chef’s skills, using donated local products from farms, vintners, distilleries and cideries in the area.

Terrance Brennan’s award-winning career spans over 40 years and he has steadily become one of America’s most renowned and imaginative chefs and restaurateurs. He is known by many for his elegant NYC, Michelin-starred restaurant Picholine  as well as Artisanal, a bistro-fromagerie-wine bar that gained immediate prominence as a shrine to the pleasures of fine cheeses and was awarded Best Brasserie Cuisine in the 2002 Zagat Survey. A frequent guest on the Today show, Terrance has also appeared on PBS, Martha Stewart Living Television, CBS Morning NewsThe Early Show, and Anthony Bourdains’ No Reservations.

Brennan’s focus on local food and sustainable farming has taken root in the Hudson Valley at the acclaimed The ROUNDHOUSE by Terrance Brennan in Beacon, NY.
