The Pete and Toshi Seeger Society

Members of the Pete & Toshi Seeger Society have chosen to include Hudson River Sloop Clearwater in their estate plans. Their generosity ensures that Clearwater’s mission will continue for generations to come.

Joining the Seeger Society is simple and meaningful, and an easy way to give back to Clearwater without changing your lifestyle. The most common method is to name Hudson River Sloop Clearwater in your will or trust, or as a beneficiary of your retirement account or life insurance policy.

Whichever option you choose, planned gifts allow you to remain in full control of your assets during your lifetime while giving you the flexibility to adjust your gift if your circumstances change.

There’s no single way to leave a legacy gift, and the examples below are for your information only. Your attorney or financial advisor can help you decide if this form of giving meets your wishes and needs.

Wills and Bequests
You can leave a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or what remains after you’ve taken care of family and other priorities. If you already have a will, your attorney can usually add Clearwater with a short amendment.

Beneficiary Designation
Name Hudson River Sloop Clearwater as a beneficiary on retirement accounts, life insurance policies, and bank or brokerage accounts.

IRAs and Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD)
Hudson River Sloop Clearwater is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Transfers from an IRA to Clearwater do not count as taxable income to you and can help satisfy the required minimum distribution.

If you’ve already included Clearwater in your estate plans, please let us know so we can welcome you to the Pete and Toshi Seeger Society.
