Finding Opportunity on the Climate Crisis: An Inter-municipal Workshop on Climate Crisis

Clearwater is hosting a workshop designed to provide valuable information on Environmental Justice and Climate Change to participants from Peekskill, Beacon, Poughkeepsie, and Kingston.  This information can help reduce negative impacts of climate change and prepare for those that cannot be avoided.
Speakers on Climate Change and Environmental Justice will make presentations that will be followed by a panel on “Work In Progress in NYS” on Climate Change. The agenda includes breakout sessions on the topics of Energy, Transportation, Food & Water Resources, Green Jobs, and Emergency Preparedness as they relate to this issue and moderated by experts on these fields.

Speakers include:  Andrew Revkin, journalist and author of Dot Earth Blog for NY Times; Sacha Spector, Director of Conservation Science at Scenic Hudson;  Cecil Mark-Corbin, Deputy Director and Director of Policy Initiative for WEACT;  Mayor Mary Foster, Peekskill Climate Smart Community  and NWEAC;  Kristin Marcell, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.

About Climate Justice:  Environmental Justice is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. Climate Justice gives climate change an environmental justice focus and vice versa.
Members of the press are invited to join us for this timely and essential conversation.
