A re-launch ceremony will be held on July 31st

BEACON, NY– After a major hull restoration this winter and a short delay awaiting a US Coast Guard inspection, the Hudson River’s iconic tall ship Clearwater has begun her sailing season. To celebrate her re-launch, Clearwater will host a public dockside re-launch ceremony on Sunday, July 31st at the pier in Cold Spring, NY at 6:00 PM.  The ceremony will provide visual and audio opportunities for radio, photography, print and TV.

Following the re-launch ceremony, the sloop will depart the dock at 7:00 PM for a public sail, which will include live music. Tickets for the sail are expected to sell out quickly and can be purchased at www.clearwater.org. “The sloop Clearwater passed her US Coast Guard inspection and has resumed sailing with passengers. We’re very happy to be back on the Hudson sailing again. Check our sailing schedule online if you are interested in sailing on Clearwater. We also look forward to some interesting programs coming up in the fall.” said Dave Conover, Clearwater’s Interim Executive Director.

The re-launch ceremony will take place at the fixed pier at the bottom of Main Street in Cold Spring.

Captain Nick Rogers said, “With wooden boats in particular, there’s always work to be done. Clearwater has undertaken an enormous hull restoration and completed it. As much as the Clearwater crew loves woodworking, we love sailing even more. Sharing the sailing experience with the people of the Hudson Valley is what we look forward to the most.”
