Community Invited to Tour Poughkeepsie Underwear Factory Stormwater Management System November 15

BEACON, NY — eDesign Dynamics has completed a stormwater management system as part of its work on The Fall Kill Project to restore the impaired waterway that runs through the City of Poughkeepsie and rehabilitate the historic Underwear Factory, owned by project partner Hudson River Housing and located at 8 North Cherry St, in Poughkeepsie. On Friday, November 15 at 2:00 PM, eDesign Dynamics is hosting a community tour of their green stormwater infrastructure project.

The project was funded by the Hudson River Estuary Program, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, with support from the NYS Environmental Protection Fund, in cooperation with New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission. The project was recently completed by eDesign Dynamics and project partners Hudson River Housing, Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Urban Landscape Lab, and LandMINE Studio. Siegrist Construction provided contractor services on the project, with soil provided by GreenWay Environmental Services.

The tour will be led by Eric Rothstein, Managing Partner at eDesign Dynamics, and will highlight the project’s efforts to develop, formalize, and implement plans designed to meet watershed management goals through the use of green infrastructure and habitat creation. Community, project partners, and press are invited.

“The Green Infrastructure project at the Underwear Factory will serve as a replicable example for the entire Hudson Valley.  It is part of a movement that no longer views stormwater as a waste product, but rather as a resource. The project will not only manage and treat stormwater, but also provide habitat and educational and stewardship opportunities for the community,” said Eric Rothstein, Managing Partner at eDesign Dynamics.

WHAT:  Community Tour of the Underwear Factory Stormwater Management System led by Eric Rothstein of eDesign Dynamics. The tour will also highlight the Fall Kill Plan designed for connecting and restoring green space along the Fall Kill Creek within the City of Poughkeepsie.

WHEN:  Friday, November 15; 2:00PM

WHERE: The Underwear Factory, 8 N. Cherry Street, Poughkeepsie, NY

eDesign Dynamics became involved with this project as part of a collaboration with Clearwater, Urban Landscape Lab, and LandMINE Studio as part of The Fall Kill Plan, a conceptual study supported by the New York State Hudson River Estuary Program, as well through a collaboration with Clearwater and The Hudson Valley Regional Council in the development of geometric conceptual plans for green infrastructure within the City of Poughkeepsie.
