Storm King decision is a multi-phase public art project celebrating stewardship and the birth of the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Resources Defense Council. Inspired by the 1965 Scenic Hudson Decision, this project honors the landmark legal case that established the right of citizens to challenge development on environmental grounds, ultimately protecting Storm King Mountain, Black Rock Forest, and the Hudson River.

The Opening Reception for the Earthwork and Garden is scheduled for Saturday, July 11 from 5-7pm at the Sands Ring Homestead Museum (180 Main Street, Cornwall, NY). The Earthwork and Garden will be on view from May 15-November 1, 2026.

The Earthwork: An 8’x16′ sculpture with the iconic silhouette of Storm King Mountain

The Garden: A vibrant display featuring 35 varieties of native plants, evolving throughout the seasons

Education: Interactive displays on the reverse side share the history of local environmental activism.

The Storm King Decision Environmental Art Project is a collaboration of Vivien Collens and Jeannette Redden. For updates and additional information, visit viviencollens.com or stormkingdecision.com.
