Newburgh residents are invited to try kayaking on the Hudson River with Hudson River Sloop Clearwater and Newburgh Waterways Center. This program is for anyone ages 13 and up who is interested in learning to paddle. Kayaks, paddles, and lifejackets will be provided. See Newburgh from a different point of view and learn about the Hudson, its creatures, and the sport of paddling from experienced educators. Kids 13-16 must be accompanied by an adult on the water. There is no age cap on this program; all are welcome.

We recommend wearing clothes and shoes you feel comfortable getting wet in, and bringing a hat, a full reusable water bottle, and sunscreen.

Programs will be held from 1:30pm-3:30pm on Saturday, September 26, and Saturday, October 10, at the Newburgh Waterways Center, 2 River Street, Newburgh, NY 12550 – map.

This program is free and open to the public, and boats, paddles, and life jackets will be provided. Prior registration is preferred. Email Education Director Emily Marcet at emily@clearwater.org with questions.

This project is funded through a grant from Open Space Institute’s Malcolm Gordon Charitable Fund, and is made possible in part by Open Waters Network.
