On Sunday, November 22, there will a Musical Heritage Night celebrating the music and message of Pete Seeger and featuring several singer-songwriters at the Towne Crier Café, 130 Route 22, Pawling, NY. The show is at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $10. For reservations and more information call (845) 855-1300 or visit http://www.townecrier.com/.

No other figure in American folk music has been more of a catalyst and inspiration than our very own friend and neighbor Pete Seeger. The musicians performing on Musical Heritage Night (the first event in a proposed series as such) have all been personally affected by Pete’s life, and the music and message that he continues to share at 90 years of age.

Drawing from the wealth of musical talent in and around the Hudson Valley, this evening will feature individual performances as well as collaborations by a group of some of the Hudson Valley’s finest musicians and singer-songwriters. Their intent, in the tradition of Pete Seeger’s message, is to expand the boundaries of this great custom of singing songs together, fueling the spirit. Featured musicians will be: Walker Rumpf (16 years old), Hailey Knox (10 years old), David Bernz and James Durst (from Work of the Weavers), Matt Turk and Hope Machine. Jeff Rumpf, executive director of Clearwater, will speak briefly about the environmental organization that he leads and which Seeger founded in the 1960s.
