Bring a picnic\, enjoy the riverfront\, and tour the boats\, and explore the unique efforts of each vessel and organization. Free and family-friendly (ages 5+). \nAbout the boats: \nApollonia\nLaunched in 2020\, the schooner Apollonia is bringing sail freight back to the Hudson River\, channeling the power of wind\, tide\, muscle\, and traditional knowledge to move locally-sourced\, shelf-stable products.  With each voyage\, the Apolloina and crew create new connections across diverse riverfront communities and work toward a more resilient future. \nThe Bob Boyle\nLaunched in 2024\, the Bob Boyle is Riverkeeper’s newest boat and scientific research vessel\, allowing for the expansion of the organization’s river-wide water quality monitoring program. The Boyle is named for Riverkeeper founder\, Robert H. Boyle (1928-2017)\, an investigative journalist\, avid outdoorsman\, environmental activist\, and author. \nClearwater\nLaunched in 1969\, the sloop Clearwater is recognized as America’s Environmental Flagship. Over its nearly 60 years on the Hudson River over half a million students\, families\, advocates\, and community members have ventured aboard the Clearwater to experience the river first-hand\, learning about and taking action to protect the Hudson River. \nHaendel\nBuilt in 1965\, Haendel was originally a survey boat for the US Army Corp of Engineers. She has lived many lives (including being owned by the state of VT!) and now works as a ferry and sightseeing boat connecting the river communities of Hudson\, Athens\, Catskill and Coxsackie.

DESCRIPTION:Pete Seeger (1919-2014) was a legendary musician and activist. He was Woody Guthrie’s friend\, and used his music to protest for Civil Rights\, for the environment and against the war in Vietnam. For his unflinching efforts\, he was blacklisted and forced to testify before the House UnAmerican Activities Committee. Over his 90+ years\, Pete touched the true heart and soul of America with his songs and his passion for what is right. As an environmental activist\, he founded Hudson River Sloop Clearwater to “build a boat to save the river\,” creating an intergenerational community of Hudson River advocates through education\, sailing\, advocacy\, and music. \nThis event is a benefit fundraiser for Hudson River Sloop Clearwater\, featuring Michael J. Miles and Tony Trischka will be opened by Betty and the Baby Boomers. Miles and Trischka are both world-renowned banjo players who had decades-long relationships with Pete Seeger\, and the Baby Boomers\, consisting of Betty Boomer\, Jean McAvoy\, Paul Rubeo\, Steve Stanne\, and Robert Bard\, came together back in 1987 through their work for Clearwater. \nIn this one-time-only event at the renowned Towne Crier in Beacon\, NY (Pete’s hometown)\, Miles and Trischka will share their music and their stories of personal encounters with Pete Seeger. You can expect some of the best banjo music on planet earth\, along with stories about Pete\, including some of his testimony before the House Un-American Activities Committee. The story of Pete Seeger demonstrates over and over his passion for social justice and planet earth. And Pete’s tool of choice for delivering his message was the banjo. \nWe are so grateful to musicians Michael J. MILES \nImagine the award-winning composer/musician: grows up in Chicago. His Irish family sings with the player-piano\, and talks politics and poetry. His inner jukebox spins with 500 years of pop songs. His stylings have inspired generations of bluegrass and acoustic musicians. His seventeen solo albums are part of every banjo-lover’s musical reference. His latest release\, “Earl Jam\,” a tribute to his “North Star”\, Earl Scruggs\, has been released to glowing reviews and features Billy Strings\, Molly Tuttle\, Vince Gill and Del McCoury. It was voted Collaborative Recording of the Year (2024) by the IBMA. It was also a Grammy nominee for Bluegrass Album of the Year (2025). \nTony has recorded and performed with Earl Scruggs\, Pete Seeger\, Steve Martin\, Ed Helms\, John Denver\, William S. The group has been praised regionally – they “sing and play old-school folk like it was brand spanking new” (Kingston’s Daily Freeman); nationally – “a refreshing reminder of the halcyon days of American folk music” (Sing Out!); and internationally\, with many bookings over decades at Clifden Arts Week\, a long-running festival in Ireland. DESCRIPTION:Big Gay Hudson Valley in partnership with the Friends of the Walkway nonprofit organization and New York State Office of Parks\, Recreation and Historic Preservation will host the second annual Pride In The Sky community celebration on Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park. \nThis FREE all-ages\, pet-friendly event will kickoff Pride season in the Hudson Valley\, and will include a Pride Flag procession\, dockside drag storytime\, Pet Pawrade\, life entertainment for all ages\, food and drink\, vendors\, LGBTQ+ pride groups\, community\, organizations\, and more on both sides of the Walkway and on the Walkway itself! \n\nWe will be hosting two Pride Sails aboard the Clearwater at 10:30am and 5pm\, celebrate pride with a scenic sail on the Hudson River. Doors open at 6:30pm\,\nfollowed by the Sing-a-Long/Teachabout at 6:45pm\, followed by the featured performance at 7:30pm. \nAbout Betty and the Baby Boomers\nBetty and the Baby Boomers consists of Betty Boomer\, Jean Valla McAvoy\, Paul Rubeo\, Robert Bard\, and Steve Stanne. Their fans hail from the mountains of Connemara in Ireland to the Catskills overlooking New York’s Hudson Valley. The folk magazine Sing Out! described the group as “a refreshing reminder of the halcyon days of American folk music”. In each song\, they display the sheer joy of singing and playing music.” Along with performing original songs from Jean\, the Boomers draw on traditional tunes\, music from classic folkies like Woody Guthrie\, Pete Seeger\, and Phil Ochs\, Americana roots music\, and contemporary artists such as Greg Brown\, Bruce Springsteen\, and Dougie MacLean. “Whatever the source\, each song is ‘Boomerized’ – set in distinctive arrangements with three and four-part harmonies. The singers’ voices differ in range and color; they combine in a unique and resonant blend that is the Boomers’ signature. Their vocals are coupled to impressive instrumental work on guitars\, Dobro\, bass\, bodhran\, and kazoo; sometimes they perform a capella selection.
