auction-wineLancaster Estate 2008 Estate Bottled Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon – 3-liter bottle in wooden box. Equivalent of 4 bottles, this Cabernet Sauvignon is perfect for the holiday table; a superb wine for beef, lamb, game and other dishes that pair with big, robust reds.  Blend: 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec, 2% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot.  It is virtually impossible to find the 2008 vintage for sale now.

The Wine Advocate – “The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate bursts from the glass with blackberries, cassis, grilled herbs, smoke and licorice, all of which are beautifully woven together. This ripe juicy Cabernet presents an exotic, super-ripe profile balanced by a firm sense of structure. Not a bad combination, to say the least. Freshly cut flowers, mint and licorice are layered into the energetic, vibrant finish. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.”

Wine Enthusiast – “A great Cabernet that will proudly stand beside the best of Napa Valley. Made in the modern style, it’s soft and sweet in blackberry, cherry, currant and dark-chocolate flavors, but the finish is thoroughly dry, wrapped in a scour of tannins and acids.”

Oil Painting: Clearwater on the Hudson River by Ivan N. Kamalic (1944-2011) – Mr. Kamalic gained a reputation as a passionate observer with a keen ability to translate nature onto canvas. A plein air painter of scenes local, New England and of the New York tri-state area, his works also include paintings from his travels outside the United States including Italy and Croatia.  In the tradition of Renaissance artists, his art education began early in his teens. His apprenticeships included extensive work in stone carving and mural painting in Italy.  An experienced instructor and winner of many awards, his work is included in over 900 private collections in the United States and abroad.  The Yugoslavian-born Kamalic made the United States his home, fleeing the communist regime in place at the time, and he served his new country during the Vietnam War.  Cape Ann was his home for many decades. His Main Street gallery, still in operation, has been in operation for more than 25 years.
