Calling All Volunteers to the Annual Clearwater Festival
The Great Hudson River Revival

800 Dedicated Volunteers Needed to Help Stage Famous Festival,
June 21 & 22, on Shores of the Hudson River - Croton Point Park
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY, JANUARY 28, 2008The celebrated Clearwater Music and
Environmental FestivalThe Great Hudson River Revival, is looking for volunteers to
help stage its annual weekend of music, dance, storytelling, sailing, crafts, and
environmental education. The men, women, and young people who volunteer all share a
strong passion for the environment. Their enthusiasm and commitment make the
Clearwater Festival a highpoint of the year for thousands of visitors throughout the Tri-State
area and as far away as California and even Canada. The Festival, which attracts
more than 12,000 attendees annually, will take place at Croton Point Park, on the shores
of the Hudson River, in Westchester County, on June 21 and 22.

Long before going green became a popular buzzword, the Festival founder, folk
singer/peace activist Pete Seeger sung and protested tirelessly in support of the
environment, particularly the Hudson River. His extraordinary legacy is documented in a
new film, American Masters Pete Seeger: The Power of Song, premiering nationwide
on PBS February 27 at 9pm (ET). The documentary explores how Seegers music
inspires everyday people to get involved and make a difference. He continues to gain
popularity and recognition for his achievements, with a petition recently launched to
nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Continuing Pete Seegers Legacy
Jeff Rumpf, Executive Director of Clearwater, cites the numerous educational and
environmental advocacy programs that are helping to introduce a new generation to the
Pete Seeger legacy.

Pete Seeger always understood the power of song to move people. The Clearwater
Festival is a celebration of the environment, recognizing all the progress we have made in
cleaning up the Hudson River as a direct result of staying true to his vision, said Rumpf.
We urge everyone to come to the Festival in June, and join the thousands of people of
all ages who carry on Seegers legacy through art, music, dance and education.

Becoming a Volunteer
Volunteering for the Clearwater Festival is easy, with
applications
available online. Volunteers are granted full Festival access and receive an
official volunteer T-shirt, on-site camping, all meals and snacks from Friday evening to
Sunday evening. They are also invited to the exclusive volunteer party, featuring food,
dancing and a live band. A donation of $30 is requested to help offset the cost of these
benefits, which have a value of more than $200. Applications received by May 21 are
eligible for an early bird discount. All volunteers receive a certificate of service in the
Festival Volunteer Program.

Only Clearwater members are eligible to volunteer. Membership costs start as low as $20
and include eligibility for discounts to Clearwater Sloop public sails and Festival

Clearwater experiences through video diaries. They are encouraged to create short videos
under three minutes and
submit
them to Clearwater for an opportunity to have them posted
on the Clearwater website.

Volunteering for Clearwater is like no other experience in the world. Volunteers not
only contribute to an important cause, they also enjoy two days of great music and
entertainment, says Ron Aja, Outreach Events Director. Volunteers meet many
exceptional people like themselves, and enjoy memories that last a lifetime.

There are volunteer opportunities for people of all ages. Possible responsibilities include
pre-Festival office support; setting up booths and stages; sign painting; selling festival
tickets; supervising childrens activities; first aid; working at the hospitality, information,
or volunteer tents; preparing food for performers and volunteers; transporting performers;
and working at the Festival gift shop. Committee descriptions are available on the
