The Great Hudson River Revival 2009 will take place on the weekend of
the Summer Solstice and Fathers Day - June 20 and 21
A remarkable grass roots celebration of the Hudson River. Clearwaters
legendary music and environmental festival, The Great Hudson River
Revival, continues to connect people to our riverhonoring the river
through music, education and action.
Revival, the festival that helped save a river was inspired by
singer/activist Pete Seegers desire to clean up the Hudson River is
infused with a special environmental awareness. The Festival has been it at the
forefront of the nations environmental struggle for over four
decades.
Revival 2009 will help celebrate three anniversaries:
- 40th anniversary of the launch of sloop Clearwater, October, 1969
- 90th birthday celebration and tribute for Pete Seeger
- 400th anniversary of Henry Hudsons voyage up the Hudson River in 1609
Scroll down to read about the exciting performers and environmental
attractions that were part of this past 2008 celebration.
The 2008 festival was a tremendous event. Saturday saw record
attendance under warm blue skies. The buzz and momentum for the
weekend gave all of us good feelings of community and celebration. Its
unfortunate Mother Nature didnt get the memo! On Sunday rain and
lightning dampened the festivities, but they didnt dampen the spirit
of the festival. After 42 years this unique and wonderful river
festival is still going strong.
