Health Advisory Eel, catfish, carp, shad, herring, sturgeon, and striped bass had been fished commercially in the Hudson River, as well as blue crab and a variety of shellfish. All were found to be contaminated with PCBs at unsafe levels. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has set the threshold for human consumption at less than 2 parts PCBs per million parts flesh (2 ppm).
