When communities understand their biological resources and natural systems, they are better equipped to achieve smart, sustainable growth. Incorporating biodiversity early in land use planning creates a more efficient process for both developers and municipalities. This conference will present principles of biodiversity conservation, case studies of municipal and county strategies and resources available to inform the process.
 
Speakers Include:
  • Keynote by Michael Klemens of Scenic Hudson on Defining Biodiversity
  • Development Perspective by René VanSchaack of Greene County IDA
  • Municipal Perspective by Karen Schneller-McDonald and Lauren Kingman on Habitat Assessment Guidelines
  • Biodiversity Resources by Laura Heady, NYS DEC Hudson River Estuary Program
 
Attendance at this event may qualify for 3 hours of Land Use Training credits for zoning and planning board officials. A Certificate of Attendance will be available at the conference; however, actual approval must be obtained from the local municipality of which you are a member.
 
Registration, networking and refreshments at 5pm.
There is a $15 registration fee.
Program at begins at 5:45pm.
