Hudson River Sloop Clearwater is sponsoring a volunteer cleanup at Pete & Toshi Seeger Riverfront Park Saturday, August 8, from 9:00AM – 1:00PM, in connection with American Rivers’ National River Cleanup® day.

“Since it was organized in 1966, Clearwater has led the charge to make the Hudson a clean and healthy river,” Clearwater’s executive director, Peter Gross. “Today, while the river is significantly cleaner than it has been in decades, we continue to work with grassroots community leaders to do everything possible, every single day, to return this magnificent natural resource to full health and vibrancy.”11011632_664521443648290_6401299902223986438_n

Clearwater’s volunteer coordinator, Shameika Hanson, said volunteers should plan on signing in between 9:00-10:00AM, when refreshments will be available, compliments of the Beacon Bagel and Key Food market.

Cleanup continues 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Lunchtime fare is offered, courtesy of Sal’s Pizzeria, Pizza & Stuff Pizzeria, Homespun Foods and RiteAid.

Gloves and tools will be supplied, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own.

On Sunday, August 9 – the day after the cleanup – the Clearwater’s affiliate, the Beacon Sloop Club, will hold its annual Corn Festival at the park. For more information on the Corn Festival, visit www.beaconsloopclub.org.
