Clearwater and Time’s Up!, a NYC-based grassroots environmental group that uses educational outreach and direct action to promote a more sustainable, less toxic city, are teaming up for an August 9th action that includes a 3-hour sail on the sloop Clearwater off Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant, part of a call for the permanent closure of the aging power plant.

WHEN: Tuesday, August 9; 11 AM – 2 PM

WHERE: Embarking from King Marine at 270 6th Street, Verplanck, NY 10596

WHO: Cyclists from Time’s Up! will start the journey at 7:45 AM from downtown Manhattan, staging a theatrical Nuclear Meltdown ride and highlighting the need for safe energy alternatives including wind and solar power. The action will also draw attention to Indian Point’s many safety violations, including the lack of a workable evacuation plan.

For more than 20 years, Time’s Up! has worked to educate people about the environmental impacts of everyday decisions, from the food we buy to the means of transportation we use. For more information about Time’s Up, please visit  http://times-up.org
