Camp Clearwater

Summer 2010

Creating the Next Generation of Environmental Leaders

It’s an adventure-based leadership program based in Beacon, NY on the historic Hudson River. Students will develop self-confidence and learn new skills by being challenged both physically and mentally.  They will develop knowledge and respect for the natural world and leave the program having experienced first-hand the history, ecology, and culture of the Hudson River Valley.

All activities are facilitated by highly-trained, nurturing and experienced instructors.  All program elements start at beginner level and increase with gained experience.   At the end of the program, students will see that they are stronger and better equipped to take charge of their own lives while making a positive difference in the world around them.

Our Program Elements:

Native American Fur Trader Canoe

History and the culture of the Native Americans from the Hudson River Valley will be gained.  They will explore the Hudson River while on a 34 foot Native American Fur Trader Canoe.

Organic Farming & Power of Song

A hands-on understanding of organic farming, watersheds and an introduction to green jobs will be gained. The Power of Song is an interactive learning experience that exposes students to socially conscious music and empowers them to be active on issues that concern them.

Kayaking

The group will complete a  full day of training, then embark on a multi day expedition.  Along the way they will explore the life and history of the Hudson River and participate in water ecology activities.

Backpacking, Rock Climbing
