Since Clearwater’s inception, our education programs have given residents of the valley a sense of place through sails on the sloop, classroom programs, and field trips to the riverside. All our programs are hands-on, interdisciplinary, and experiential, and while the vessel is our premiere education platform, our land-based programs are conducted for all ages and offer a more flexible and affordable alternative.
A typical continuum of experiences would include an assembly for kindergarten, a classroom visit with live specimens for the first and second grade, a Tideline Program at Esopus Meadows for third and fourth, and a culminating sail on the sloop for fifth grade. Middle and High school students can participate in Camp Clearwater and our Youth Empowerment Program. With this range of experiences we are truly preparing the next generation of environmental leaders, as we have done for forty years.
