WHAT IS AN EDUCATION INTERN?
The Education Intern is a full time crewmember with a wide range of duties from sailing to maintenance, but with a focus on Clearwater’s prestigious education program. The Education Intern is expected to help the Onboard Education Coordinators set up and teach Clearwater’s curriculum, including ecology, water chemistry, physics, history and navigation. The Intern will also be asked to perform sailing duties, including assisting with docking the boat, setting the fishing net, raising sail, and tending the sails.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Applicants should be pursuing a degree in or have a passion for the environment, sailing, teaching and the outdoors. Education Interns must be self-motivated, adaptable, have a positive attitude, be comfortable living closely with people whose background may be different from their own, and be able to live in a setting with very little privacy or comforts. Applicants are encouraged to visit the boat (if possible) and sail as our guest, before committing to a position.
