Hey Tom,

Don’t know if you remember me from the Halloween sail on the sloop, but I’m the one who will be running the river in May of next year. I was up in the ‘dacks to survey the upper Hudson just last Friday. Those first 15 miles are, for the most part, uber beautiful, although I didn’t go up to Lake Tear. I only went up as far as Henderson Lake, where is was an icy 26 degrees as I gazed at the spillway that becomes Indian Pass Brook. I can’t wait to go up there and run it!

Seeing Pete here brought tears to my eyes.

If anyone who reads this comment knows Pete Seeger, please ask him to write some new verses to his wonderful song, “Banks of Marble.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-o3CJytIPE

Pete sang it so many years ago — and with a few new verses, it would be perfect for the “Occupy” movement today. As the last verse of this song says: “Then we might own those banks of marble, with a guard at every door. And we would share those vaults of silver that we have sweated for!” Perfect.

And if you do talk to Pete, please thank him for the many years of songs and spirit he has given to all of us. We love you, Pete! xoxoxo

Great to hear from you! I believe we did a Pumpkin Sail or two together. And I hope all is well for you too!
Besides, if this is a start to let Pumpkin Sail grow again to what it once was, the two week long sail from Albany to New York with hundreds of children reached every day, I hope it will grow into this very nice and strange thing again. The more so as often there is simply no telling how things may grow from where they started or begin again. When the winds are fair and the sails are high.

Good idea. Pumpkin Sail is back. And the schedule is not as thight as it used to be before. I did some Pumpkin Sails in the past and I have many good memories about them. This is a great idea! Putting films of sails on board the sloop Clearwater and the work of her crew on the internet. I am certain it can and will get people more in touch with the work of Clearwater … and now people from all over the world can watch the work that we/you do to clean up a river, bring people together in friendship and get the job done for a better and more honest world. Now people from all over the world can get inspired by the work Clearwater does. I for one loved seeing this film. I got me closer to you all again … and I live in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
