Public Sailing Adventure
Friday, August 28, 6:00-9:00PM
From 79th St., New York City

Experience the Hudson River and its shores from a new perspective! Help hoist the sails and steer the boat with the 11-foot tiller. Meet the crew of the tall ship and enjoy or sing along with the music they make on board. Learn about the river’s history, biology and environmental issues. Relax and enjoy being on the water. Tickets $50, members $35, kids $15.

Sturgeon Moon Walk

Walkway over the Hudson, Poughkeepsie

Clearwater members are offered a FREE opportunity to join the Sturgeon Moon star-gazing session Friday, August 28,  7:30-9:30PM, at the Walkway over the Hudson in Poughkeepsie. Clearwater and Walkway are partnering in co-offering benefits to their members, along with Mohonk Preserve. At the Moon Walk, view the sky above the river using telescopes supplied by the Mid-Hudson Astronomical Association. Stephen Stann from the state Department of Environmental Conservation will speak about sturgeons.

Constellation Art Sail

Clearwater sets sail to Bannerman’s castle for an evening look at Melissa McGill’s illuminated artwork, “Constellation,” on Friday, September 4, 6:00-9:00PM, departing from Cold Spring harbor. View the lights over the castle from the deck of the Clearwater for an unforgettable artistic experience. Tickets, $75; members, $50; children $25.

Sunset Seine and Sing

Esopus Meadows Preserve, 257 River Road, Ulster Park 

Come enjoy the Hudson River estuary during the “magic hour” of sunset for a fishing program for all ages! Participants take to the river with waders and a net to see what they can catch. The fishing is followed by a sing-along with Hudson River musicians. Bring picnic dinner and relax by the river for an enjoyable and educational experience. Walk and Wade

Esopus Meadows Preserve, 257 River Road, Ulster Park

Come “Walk and Wade” at our annual family-friendly program at Esopus Meadows. Explore how water has shaped our environment over the last 20,000 years. Enjoy a moderate one-hour hike followed by seining in the Hudson River. The program includes native and invasive species investigation, and a discussion on fish catch. Clearwater’s Tideline program educator will also discuss and show how the river gets ready for winter, and how the quality of the river water is changing. For more information, contact

Clearwater Annual Gathering
